This house in rural Cork is situated in a rolling landscape with views north towards the River Shornagh. Our proposal seeks to merge our Client’s desires to frame these views and benefit from the passage of the sunlight around the site. The organisational approach of the south facing courtyard from which all spaces circulate, encourages the use of each part according to this movement of the sun; bay windows around the perimeter make special relationships between interior and exterior conditions at key moments. The lower floor is set into the sloping site and a turf roof enhances the existing ecological habitat.
