Our transformative design for this existing bungalow on the shores of Sessiagh Lake in Donegal at the north-western edge of Ireland turns and opens out the previous living accommodation to the south aspect and views over the rugged landscape of water, mountains and sky. These elements are deliberately framed in the timber skeleton of the new open living spaces, giving a new experience of connection to the landscape and climate. The crow's nest study provides a space for reflection and peace, looking north to the mountain range rising from the rear of the house.
