A young family in an end-of-terrace, period home, were missing an essential space - a space where the family could cook, sit, play, eat, work, learn, entertain and be together. Our proposal was designed to track and harness the sun from morning to evening ensuring the space is always bright and warm. The monocoque timber frame construction is a low cost solution that reduces the weight of the structure whilst ensuring maximum thermal performance of the fabric. A planted courtyard sits between the existing formal living room and the proposed family space.
