This refurbishment of a traditional artisan house in Stoneybatter seeks to maximise space and light for the clients. The internal arrangement was entirely removed, with a new fully glazed elevation installed to a private courtyard at the rear. The ground floor is open plan to allow direct sunlight in the living space, with an elegantly engineered and crafted walnut stair giving a sculptural focus. Open treads cantilever from the wall ensuring light penetrates the depth of the living space to connect front and rear. Integrated storage in matching cabinetry compliments the stairs and clearly makes a distinction between new and old.
