Set along the field boundary to capture distant mountain views in the shelter of the hedgerow, this house is arranged as a series of simple forms around a square courtyard. The house is organized with eastern bedrooms, southern kitchen, dining and study, and western living spaces. The stable wing closes the square courtyard to the north, away from the prevailing winds. The precise displacement of the apertures in the walls around the interior court and exterior envelope of the blocks allows for an endless variation in quality of light and extent of view, through courtyard to room to near distant landscape.
